Mission and functions

Mission

The ITSS is a public body with its own legal personality, management autonomy and full capacity to act to ensure compliance with the rules in the field of labour and social security.

Areas of Action

  • Labor relations, equality, and representation of working people
  • Health and safety at work
  • Social security: field of application, affiliation, contribution and benefits
  • Employment and work of foreigners
  • Cooperatives and other formulas of social economy, unless the regional legislation indicates otherwise

Functions

Surveillance and Control Services

The Labour and Social Security Inspectorate is responsible for monitoring and demanding compliance with the legal, regulatory and normative content of collective agreements.

Technical assistance services

  • Information and guidance to companies and workers, during the exercise of the inspection function
  • Collaboration and assistance to Social Security entities and agencies
  • Information, assistance and collaboration with other public administration bodies on the application of social order standards
  • Preparation of technical-labor reports for judicial bodies

Arbitration, Conciliation and Mediation Services

It offers services for the resolution of labor disputes, within the scope of the inspection action previously initiated, and with the acceptance of all the parties involved:

  • Mediation in labour disputes
  • Arbitration in Labor Disputes
  • Conciliation between parties
