On September 25th, the OEITSS and URSAFFF, the competent institutions respectively in Spain and France In the area of social security inspection and control, they signed an important agreement on Cross-border control and surveillance in the field of social security.
This agreement includes the cOntrol of fraud in three subjects: Fraud in social security membership in the determination of applicable legislation, fraud in the contributions of posted workers and the timely and non-massive control of cross-border fraud in social security benefits. In any case, such control will be aimed at the protection and restoration of the rights of working people.
In addition, this cooperation will materialize by communicating ex officio the irregularities that are verified, carrying out joint inspections between the two countries and making a diagnosis between the parties involved to detect situations of fraud in both countries.
The agreement signed in Paris is a milestone on the road to fairer labour mobility within the European Union. In addition, in the future, ITSS will be able to reach similar agreements with the institutions of other states, in particular the institutions for the control and monitoring of social security legislation of Portugal, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
