This Thursday, March 12, the anniversary of the creation of the Labour Inspectorate was celebrated in the Ministry of Labour, an institution that is today “the guarantee of the rule of law”, as noted by the Second Vice-President and Minister of Labour and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, which participated in the already traditional homage to inspectors and inspectors, sub-inspectors and sub-inspectors and administrative staff of the Agency aged 25 and 40, a recognition extended to all those workers of the Agency who retired in 2025.
“120 years ago the world was a radically different place. It was then that a revolutionary idea was born: the state had to be the guarantor of decent working conditions. Today we celebrate 120 years of commitment to social peace and decent employment”, he pointed out at the opening of the event Cristina Fernández, director of the agency, who also stressed that the Labour Inspectorate is “a thermometer of full democracy and a shield of the most vulnerable people”.
During the event, presented by Gregoria Chala Lafuente, director of the ITSS School, the book 'The Spanish System of Labour Inspection and Social Security was presented. Study on its historical journey, present and future prospects of a century-old institution', by the labour inspectors Raimundo Aragón Bombín and Adrián González Martín, which may read and consult on our website. The authors were accompanied by Sonsoles Gutiérrez, Minister of Labour, Migration and Social Security at the Spanish Embassy in Morocco.
