The Las Palmas Labour and Social Security Inspectorate, together with the National Police, through the Las Palmas Provincial Brigade for Foreigners and Borders (UCRIF-I), has completed “Operation Bordillo”, a joint operation that has allowed the dismantling of a criminal network dedicated to the exploitation of foreign workers in the construction sector on the island of Lanzarote.
As a result of the investigation, 16 people were arrested, including two construction entrepreneurs and 14 foreign workers who allegedly worked irregularly supplanting other people’s identities.
The operation began in mid-October, when the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate learned that a construction company in Lanzarote could be employing foreign citizens without a residence or work permit, posing them as other people registered with the Social Security.
