This week the ITSS was in Colombia to participate in the 4th Plenary of the Ibero-American Labour Inspection Network (REDIBIT), in Cartagena de Indias, during which the achievements of REDIBIT in the last year were summarized and the Work Plan for 2026.
With his eyes fixed on the future of work, after the Plenary, the High-level Technical Seminar was held, where representatives of the Inspectorates of the countries of the region and experts in labour legislation and social dialogue debated issues of full relevance such as the Predictive use of artificial intelligence tools, the new challenges in monitoring and control actions or the Prevention of emerging occupational risks, with particular attention to progress in the fight against occupational accidents.
Cristina Fernández, ITSS Director General pointed out at the opening of the Technical Seminar that “changes in the world of work have not made the old challenges and challenges disappear, they have only transformed them”.
The various round tables were attended by those responsible for the Labour Inspectorates of Peru, Chile, Brazil, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Colombia, the organizing country, or Spain. Experts from the ILO and the Inter-American Development Bank (BID)
On behalf of the ITSS they also attended Néstor A. Fraile, Assistant Director of Institutional Relations and Technical Assistance and Irene Marín, Assistant Director-General for the Coordination of the Labour Relations System Inspection.
