Published the “Guide to Inspection Action on Adverse Weather Phenomena – FMA”

Address OEITSS - 12/06/2025
News

Prepared by this Labour and Social Security Inspectorate, this GUIDE It aims to make it easier for companies to verify the preventive management of the risks associated with AMFs.

The prevention of risks associated with climate change is one of the objectives of the Spanish Strategy for Health and Safety at Work (2023-2027) and, in this regard, the ITSS has a crucial role in its work of advising and controlling the preventive activity carried out by companies in our country, as stipulated in article 9 of the Law on Prevention of Occupational Risks.

In this sense, the document published today reflects the effort that our Agency is developing to adapt to changes that directly affect the working conditions of working people.

The guidelines of this guide follow a chronological order based on the stages of the preventive management of a company, from the evaluation of the risks to the specific analysis of the individual factors that can aggravate the exposure to meteorological phenomena that require a new look from the preventive perspective.

Finally, it is necessary to highlight the wide scope of the FMA contained in the published document since, in addition to the classic approach focused on heat episodes, it includes the totality of meteorological conditions that can have a significant influence on the generation of risks in the workplace.
